2. OK SO *sits down* only true 90s kids remember the days of when leopardeyes @ dw picked random chapters from random cards instead of going in any sort of sequential (let alone logical) order #ThrowbackThursday
ANYWAYS!!! I am 99.9% certain that all* (riku excluded bc? that's logical) of the characters' 1st nenmatsu chapters are titled after one of their respective lines in either memomelo or leopard eyes which is 1. A Translation Nightmare and 2. Incredibly Emotional的, I'm crying just thinking about it, my tears are freezing to my eyelashes
so in this case the title of iori's 1st chapter is 追い風に変わるさ, which is his duET LINE W/ MITSUKI (it's not a duet line it just so happens that mitsuki and iori's lines pair up in this verse) (mitsuki's ch1 isn't 突きやれた空を tho so I am #######), but also one of those lines that in my ancient and never-to-be-seen transcription of memomelo, I had a really hard time translating because the line is very specifically saying that the (overly oppressive(?) sky from mitsuki's line) is being Very Actively Changed (by the singer) into a favourable wind/etc., BUT IT'S HARD TO TRANSLATE THAT W/O DISLOCATING MITSUKI AND IORI'S LINES AND I WAS in a lot of pain at the time
anyways the reason I'm talking about this is because this chapter is very much thematically in line w/ the idea of being the one to actively make a shitty situation a good one (which is why even tho I would have died 4 matching izumi brothers lines, mitsuki's line being depressing Ain't Fitting), so the title is a good match and I wanted 2 make sure everyone in the audience is just as emotional as I am

4. IT'S BEEN SO LONG (read: circa ordinary days chapters) SINCE TSUMUGI LAST REFERENCED A LESSON, THESE BOYS HAVE COME SO FAR.........

6. have I ever talked about how awful the mufest situation was for everyone involved bc I don't think I have? it's a pretty awful domino chain of events but basically the sequence is s/t like
yamato(? I think it's yamato) realises that trigger is attending music festival so he's like OK TIME 2 QUARANTINE RIKU IN THE DRESSING ROOM SO HE DOESN'T GET BLINDSIDED BY A BLIZZARD -> everyone else goes out to go pay their respects and stuff leaving riku alone in the dressing room -> that guy who wears his sweater around his neck (he's a composer hired by yaotome pd) breaks into i7's dressing room to try to steal their songs (this guy is an ass) (yaotome sr is kind of an ass too tho) -> he like?? assaults riku? which causes riku to go into spasms, but This Ass steps on his inhaler or otherwise breaks it somehow, so riku is in Extreme Suffering: Nanase Riku Edition -> by the time the other members come back riku's somewhat recovered but iori is like *squinting* what's up with this LABORED BREATHING, NANASE-SAN -> one of the mufest staff members finds tsumugi and is like "SORRY CAN WE HAVE U ON STAGE, LIKE, AN HOUR BEFORE YOU THOUGHT YOU'D HAVE TO BE" bc one of their other acts wasn't there yet? or something -> Everyone Panics
then when i7 goes on stage (very frazzled and not really prepared 2 sing), riku's clearly holding back on his vocals so iori starts capital W Worrying over it, and he's so preoccupied over trying to figure out if he should try to cover for riku's part that he forgets to sing his part, meanwhile mitsuki and sougo try to simultaneously cover for iori's miss and basically do the thematic equivalent of clocking their skulls against each other and passing out, which kind of causes everyone else (sans yamato and nagi) to fall into disarray
it's very tragic but objectively speaking, it's like at least 90% not iori's fault, if we're going to play the blame game then it's yamato's fault for forcing riku to stay in the dressing room, because That Ass was planning to break in when he thought there wouldn't be anyone in the dressing room (surprise riku), but then if we take a step back, it's also ten's fault for making yamato think that he'd send riku into cardiac arrest and/or give the poor kid frostbite, but as glad as I'm sure iori would be to know that Problematic Older Brother Kujou Ten is at fault for this situation, the fact of the matter remains is that as far as iori's concerned he had no excuse for making the mistake that he did
but, like, on the other hand, it's also kind of the rest of i7's fault for letting one mistake cause them to almost completely fall apart, but the ability to recover from a mistake is the sort of thing that requires a lot of stage confidence and these boys are still really nervous rookies at the time who Quite Frankly Lack Pressurized Experience, so expecting them to know how to recover from a mistake in such a high-tension environment just Ain't Fair and it's kind of only natural that they'd react so poorly
