1. maybe it's because I am Very High Strung Rn because of the version update but oh m ygod this chat made my heart hurt
2. I feel absolutely awful for yaotome gaku in this chat but is that enough to stop me from translating "写メ送った" as "I sent pix"
3. I know that gaku/tsumugi seems like it's totally just yaotome gaku and his overpowering teenage crush but don't tell me tsumugi isn't totally baiting him at the start of this chat
4. tsumugi doesn't refer to banri w/ a -san like she normally would, but she's formally introducing him (hence why the wording is a bit strange) and so it'd be strange for her to put a -san on his name along w/ all of the other honorific language she's using
5. the last time I translated a fifth chapter for gaku picking the different dialogue paths made me fear his wrath, this time translating a fifth chapter for gaku picking the dialogue paths makes me feel awful for breaking his heart again only this time there is no I'm Going Alone to fix things..........
6. tsumugi asks about 興味深い stories about work which basically means "a great depth of interest" so I'm like tsumugi what the heck are you expecting to dredge out of yaotome gaku
7. 嫌 is the single most difficult word to translate because english hates double negatives oh my god
anyways it's tough because gaku asks "嫌?" and tsumugi replies "嫌, じゃないです. 行きたい, です" — so she's putting emphasis on the '嫌' and '行きたい', the first of which is a direct quoting of gaku's original question. the unfortunate thing is that there is no clean way to translate 嫌 so that it reads the same in both gaku and tsumugi's lines..... in gaku's case he's basically saying "do you not want to/is there a problem/you dislike?" and then tsumugi responds by making like yoda and saying "dislike it, I do not. want to go, I do." — so the way I'd read it is that she's separating out '行きたい' as a correction for '嫌', but I'm already reeling over trying to figure out how to translate 嫌 for gaku's line and it's a total mess!!
it's a total mess!!!!!
so all of that meaning pretty much got completely lost in my translation because I'm losing it over gaku saying nothing but "紡" on his next line
8. the 強引 ("pushy") that gaku references is the same 強引 on his home screen line and the same 強引 that showed up in the secnight cd 2nd chapter, fyi!
9. look the only other way I could think of to translate いつまでも待ってますから was "I'll wait forever", so,
10. I'm not sure if I should translate ががががが楽さん as "ga, ga, ga, ga, ga, gaku-san" or "gagagagagagaku-san" or if I should start playing bad romance so I went with GGGGggGGGggGaKu-SaN
11. gaku says "え" but the last time I saw an え like the sound of someone going into cardiac arrest it was sougo and his mental preparations and I translated it as "O" that time so I will translate it as "O" again this time
12. as horrified as I am, to give tsumugi credit, she's consistently using the てしまう ending for her sentences, which is the ending you use when, something happens that you did not want to have happen, and you're very upset, about this thing, that was not intended to happen, happening
13. the word that tsumugi uses to refer to takanashi papa coming along is 同席 which makes me think that her dad is sharpening the banana slicer over there
14. gaku's response in the second path is basically "don't play with my heart like that" and tbh I agree gaku yaotome has a maiden heart that needs to be protected
15. I've been watching too much awful TV because of end of term fiascos but gaku saying "where I am doesn't matter I'll come meet you regardless" and tsumugi saying "I'll wait for you however long I have to so please come meet me" has me like, Um, can I call a friend, I need help, lighting myself on fire
