1. ten doesn't actually imply that gaku frequently schemes in japanese but "your scheme, gaku?" didn't look quite right so I added the qualifiers!
2. I forgot how positive and friendly ryuu seems when put next to literal spring of negativity kujou ten
3. くせに is kinda tricky to translate (usually I just write "even though" and pray the sullen tone comes across), but it's basically the lead in for (why are you being difficult) — "even though you have xyz". despite is probably also a good word to use in these cases!
4. gaku mimics ten's pattern about excessive intermingling when he calls ryuu out for -chan'ing tsumugi and I'm like dude check your yobisute
5. *drags hands down face* what is the christmas special program
6. reading these chats (and remembering from the novel/comic chats), ryuu is.... actually kinda prejudiced? I wonder what's up w/ that...
7. gaku says that someone was startled by comments but I'm not sure who is being startled and who is making the comments so I took a wild guess and decided to interpret it as gaku referencing tamaki's pet names/general broken speech (the comments) and assuming that ryuu would have been startled by the bluntness?
8. takes a moment to slide out of my chair and weep for how proud I am of mitsuki bc gaku yaotome wants to talk to him!!!! and how other people in the industry are really eager to work with him!!!! and everyone from trigger recognizes that he's sugoi!!!!!! I'm so proud of my problematic fave......... sheds the tears of a proud mother
anyways, gaku calls mitsuki the izumi ani so I just made it a bit more roundabout and called him the older izumi
9. reaches up from my station weeping on the floor to point out that even though ten doesn't comment on gaku saying that he's trying to have a similar approach to mitsuki (and say what you will about mitsuki but he's probably the #2 most honest and straightforward kid in idolish7 after riku even if he can be an ass sometimes) (nagi and tamaki are honest and straightforward too but they have strange communication skills) (suddenly I've 見事に split idolish7 into the "honest and straightforward" team and the "you must read between the lines with a fine-toothed comb" team), BUT AS I WAS Saying about gaku and ten, even tho ten doesn't comment if you'll remember when he talked about gaku to riku he was saying that he thought it was amazing of gaku to try to be honest and straightforward in his work (living w/o clouding his words is I think how I translated it!) despite having the looming popularity and gossip that he does
ten sucks at presenting as active listening but he really does pay attention....
10. by the way, this chat reads simultaneously w/ the mongen bonus chat! props to tsumugi for keeping the conversations straight tbh..... the trouble she refers to would be sougo's kokoro no junbi, I'm assuming! also, hence why yamato shows up and ryuu drops out towards the end!
11. how excessive of me would it be for me to translate "お子様" as "you big baby". I'm gonna do it. I did it.
basically, お子様 (lit. "child" w/ a bunch of honorifics on it) gets used to kind of? highlight a child's age? so it's not offensive when you use it to describe an actual child, but when you use it to describe a grown-ass adult it starts looking kinda funky and condescending-ish, like you're trying to highlight on how said adult is acting like a kid. in this case ten is saying that it's childish of gaku to start getting angry at feeling like he's done something wrong because people won't look at him straight when they first meet him
granted, it.... it's a very childish sort of response to be like "I feel like I did something wrong, wait why am I letting myself feel guilty??? grrrr" sort of thing. I just woke up my ability to be coherent in english is at an all time low
12. as gaku waxes poetic about costume jewelry I have to wonder, trigger is all sitting together right now so why are they talking via rabbit chat. I'm grateful but also incredibly confused. do you think ten actually showed gaku the pictures of nagi he got from riku. I'm guessing probably not if gaku didn't know that riku and ten had talked for the magazine interview, but
what do you mean I shouldn't translate "すっごい美形" as "he's really frickin' gorgeous", listen, クソs start getting dropped in the next chats and I'm just getting warmed up on breaking out the swear words things are getting pg-13 around here
13. please take a moment to appreciate the mental image of ryuu trying to sneak up close to nagi's face so he can look at his eyes. this six foot tall man trying to sneak up on another six foot tall man from right in front of him. ryuu, child, this is why people think you're eroi, isn't it,
14. I was looking up good english to use for "ほう" (as an expression of surprise/admiration/being impressed) and that was one of the results that came back but as soon as I wrote the words "Oh ho" after gaku's line I hit my head against my desk because I was laughing too hard
I hate translating and the only thing that saves me is the knowledge that ten gives gaku grief for it so I can have him give gaku grief in english too

in other news, is yamato a pokemon weak against riku types
17. okay actual note about the "I'm weak against riku" thing but I think I talked about it in riku's halloween chats, where tsumugi was like "so even yamato-san wants to be honest when he's around you, riku-san!" or w/e, I.... wrote a bunch about it at the time but basically riku has that sort of genuine quality that makes you want to cheer him on and so yamato, who has Never Been Honest, Not Even Once, is having his ability to be the slippery and secretive onii-san figure threatened whenever Honest And Straightforward riku-kun strikes
hence why yamato's like "please I can't handle your brother's emotions it makes me feel honest and gross inside"

18. yamato has this weird comment about 逆恨み and I'm.... not sure 100% on how to translate it appropriately, but the general impression I get is that he's saying he'll start to resent ten even though he's aware that it'd be riku's behavior (becoming a wilting flower) that he's actually resenting

1. ten doesn't actually imply that gaku frequently schemes in japanese but "your scheme, gaku?" didn't look quite right so I added the qualifiers!
2. I forgot how positive and friendly ryuu seems when put next to literal spring of negativity kujou ten
3. くせに is kinda tricky to translate (usually I just write "even though" and pray the sullen tone comes across), but it's basically the lead in for (why are you being difficult) — "even though you have xyz". despite is probably also a good word to use in these cases!
4. gaku mimics ten's pattern about excessive intermingling when he calls ryuu out for -chan'ing tsumugi and I'm like dude check your yobisute

11. how excessive of me would it be for me to translate "お子様" as "you big baby". I'm gonna do it. I did it.
basically, お子様 (lit. "child" w/ a bunch of honorifics on it) gets used to kind of? highlight a child's age? so it's not offensive when you use it to describe an actual child, but when you use it to describe a grown-ass adult it starts looking kinda funky and condescending-ish, like you're trying to highlight on how said adult is acting like a kid. in this case ten is saying that it's childish of gaku to start getting angry at feeling like he's done something wrong because people won't look at him straight when they first meet him
granted, it.... it's a very childish sort of response to be like "I feel like I did something wrong, wait why am I letting myself feel guilty??? grrrr" sort of thing. I just woke up my ability to be coherent in english is at an all time low
12. as gaku waxes poetic about costume jewelry I have to wonder, trigger is all sitting together right now so why are they talking via rabbit chat. I'm grateful but also incredibly confused. do you think ten actually showed gaku the pictures of nagi he got from riku. I'm guessing probably not if gaku didn't know that riku and ten had talked for the magazine interview, but
what do you mean I shouldn't translate "すっごい美形" as "he's really frickin' gorgeous", listen, クソs start getting dropped in the next chats and I'm just getting warmed up on breaking out the swear words things are getting pg-13 around here

14. I was looking up good english to use for "ほう" (as an expression of surprise/admiration/being impressed) and that was one of the results that came back but as soon as I wrote the words "Oh ho" after gaku's line I hit my head against my desk because I was laughing too hard
I hate translating and the only thing that saves me is the knowledge that ten gives gaku grief for it so I can have him give gaku grief in english too

17. okay actual note about the "I'm weak against riku" thing but I think I talked about it in riku's halloween chats, where tsumugi was like "so even yamato-san wants to be honest when he's around you, riku-san!" or w/e, I.... wrote a bunch about it at the time but basically riku has that sort of genuine quality that makes you want to cheer him on and so yamato, who has Never Been Honest, Not Even Once, is having his ability to be the slippery and secretive onii-san figure threatened whenever Honest And Straightforward riku-kun strikes
hence why yamato's like "please I can't handle your brother's emotions it makes me feel honest and gross inside"

18. yamato has this weird comment about 逆恨み and I'm.... not sure 100% on how to translate it appropriately, but the general impression I get is that he's saying he'll start to resent ten even though he's aware that it'd be riku's behavior (becoming a wilting flower) that he's actually resenting

20. gaku's slang will send me to an early grave, I have no idea where to start rebuilding "おちょくんじゃねえ" from aside from fixing じゃねえ to じゃない. the closest thing I'm getting is オチよすんじゃない?? which is basically stop turning it into a punchline, which is kind of what ten's doing by fixating on gaku's ほう
