1. wow! the title of the magazine interview is ridiculously long! anyways, 世紀 gets used twice, so I translated it as era one time and century another
2. since this is technically a ten card, I'm tagging and icon'ing it accordingly even though riku shows up!
3. tsumugi drops a lot of keigo and general formalspeak, hence why riku's like "manager why can't we just talk casually" — I'm not sure how well some of that gets conveyed by my translation because if anything it probably just looks awkward because...... she says so much.
4. one of my least favorite things to translate is when a character sticks a comma after their personal pronoun because it just doesn't look natural in english? "I've, been really looking forward to this!"
if I were focusing more on matching rhythm I'd almost write a "you know, " whenever I see it because I think it's basically meant to be an attention-getter?
also I can't believe it took me this long to realize that both riku and ten write their pronouns in katakana
5. FINALLY SOMEONE DROPS THE TEN-NII BOMB IN A RABBIT CHAT I'm sorry I have been dying for three months with ten constantly being referred to by riku as his nii-san and others referring to ten as riku's onii-san and finally I get to see the horrible triple-n combo with my decision to use the official localisations
6. ten's approach to not wanting to have his relationship with riku disclosed seems really harsh I think but I honestly believe he's doing it from a place of thinking of the nanase family? like when he says he doesn't want there to be excessive prying, you can read his grammar form as saying that he doesn't want to be made to deal with them, or else that he doesn't want to make someone else deal with them — in this case, it'd be that he doesn't want to make the nanase family have to deal with excessive prying into the situation. from ten's perspective, it's not necessarily that he doesn't want to be associated with them anymore, but that he feels like it'd cause more trouble for them if their son came back as a celebrity but after having changed his name; he mentions there being gossip about the nanase parents having sold their son away, etc.
since ten changed his name to kujou, it especially looks like the nanase family "sold" him, or like there's some sort of underhanded deal going on there, and so I think ten is concerned that his parents would come under fire for something that he pretty much chose largely of his own volition (iirc) (in the story it tries to emphasize it as being a path ten chose for himself but who knows)
but it's the same thing with him saying it'd avoid causing trouble; I think he's saying that it'd avoid causing trouble (for his family), although it could also be interpreted as him saying that it'd avoid causing trouble for -him-, and that's probably where all of the Wow Ten-nii You Selfish Jerk interpretations come from
because then on riku's side, you basically have the "we're family so it's okay to cause trouble for us because we care about you??? we care about having you back in the family more than we care about having to deal with gossip" argument, these twins are.... pretty tragic.....
no wonder riku thinks ten and sougo resemble each other tbh
7. ten says "落ち着いて" first and then "落ち着きなさい" second; the -なさい ending basically turns it imperative (without really needing extra words in japanese), so I wrote in the extra words with a similar meaning in order to get the same implication across in english. basically ten's going from telling riku to calm down to ordering him to calm down, tho
