【TSUMUGI】: It's just a slightly cutely done arrangement!
【IORI】: You're calling it 'Student Council Girl', aren't you!

【TSUMUGI】: Iori-san, thank you for all of your hard work on Episode 3's filming!

【IORI】: Manager, thank you for all of your hard work.

【TSUMUGI】: Your wire rope action was very stunning, Iori-san!
The others were all clapping and cheering for you, as well!

【IORI】: Thank you very much.
The scene where I chased down Rokuya-san, who was wielding a sword with an artificial arm, to the rooftop was, even though I'd long since thrown away any attempts to question the script, a fairly difficult scene for me to understand.
【IORI】: It was my first time seeing a real alligator.

Speaking of which, why exactly was it that Rokuya-san was so happily shouting "Exciting! Exciting!"?

【TSUMUGI】: That's because, Iori-san, your costume following your transformation was actually a cosplay from "Magic Girl Magical★Cocona"'s 'Episode 19: Student Council Girl'!

【IORI】: Wouldn't that make it crossdressing! I was deceived by the culottes!

【TSUMUGI】: It's a costume that Cocona-chan wears in order to infiltrate a boy's school by dressing as a boy, so it's just barely not actually crossdressing!
It's just a slightly cutely done arrangement!

【IORI】: You're calling it 'Student Council Girl', aren't you!

[1]: The action was very cool!
[2]: The ribbon was very adorable!
[3]: Nagi-san was very pleased!

【TSUMUGI】: The action was very cool!

【IORI】: I won't let you try to gloss over it like that!

【TSUMUGI】: I'm terribly sorry, Iori-san....
The production staff is taking great consideration of the fact that they're working with rookie idols, and so they're building the developments in a way that won't involve female talent.
Which is why, in order to produce a florid atmosphere, instead they......

【IORI】: They've forcibly reverse-imported a two-dimensional girl, I see........

【TSUMUGI】: Iori-san, you're fine!
When Cocona-chan wears it, she's crossdressing as a woman. If you wear it, Iori-san, you're crossdressing as a man.
Let's move on, facing forward!

【IORI】: Please don't push your forceful positivity onto me.
Well, since it wasn't a skirt, it's fine..........

【TSUMUGI】: Thank you very much!

With that settled, there's the script for the next episode of "I7 Academy", 'The Student Council's Counterattack! Dressed As A Maid, A Honey Trap!' that I'd like for you to check

【TSUMUGI】: Nagi-san was very pleased!

【IORI】: So the reason that he was so excessively begging for us to take a picture with the two of us was because of that..................

t/n:

1. if the formatting looks weird, it's a lesson learned: I should not try to post translations while on mobile..... please let me know if there's anything that looks strange or doesn't show properly! m(_ _)m

2. I've mentioned before that iori sometimes refers to tsumugi as 'tsumugi-manager' (and I've been dropping the tsumugi in most cases because Manager Tsumugi just looks too awkwardly formal to me, I guess.....), so I thought I'd take a minute to specify that in these chats, he's just calling her "manager"! I... haven't quite figured out what the distinction is for when he uses her name and when he doesn't, but I will keep looking for patterns. in the meantime, here we are

3. suddenly iori comes swooping in from the side, making an attempt at claiming the title of "was made to do so much for the sake of this script". why is he going from being stuco pres to being in the archery club to suddenly, wires and rope and action thereof?

although I guess that since he's on the villain side, it makes sense that the demands placed on him would be fairly strange (along with the ones for sougo and yamato LOL)

4. I need to check the line about the artificial arm and the sword and the 技 sometime when I'm not on mobile, but it.... doesn't really make much sense to me, reading it, so I took a wild guess and translated what I thought seemed the most logical. logical being...... already a bit of a stretch here...... I think nagi might have?? turned his artificial arm into a sword???? to which I say, what's with the artificial arm??????

I should probably actually read nagi's chats closely one of these days. the only thing that comforts me is the knowledge that iori is apparently just as confused as I am

5. iori quotes nagi's excitings as being spoken in katakana (so, ekusaitingu). basically nagi was yelling "exciting!" in english, apparently. I know that iori has this strange penchant for using katakanago for words where I'm pretty sure he could just say them in japanese, but I'm still not sure why iori didn't just quote it as "exciting"

maybe he doesn't know how to spell it?

6. fun fact I was actually wearing culottes when I translated this chat and I just sort of. looked down. and apologized. for anyone who isn't familiar with the term, they're basically.... floofy shorts. depending on the style they can either just look like slightly wide-cut shorts, or else like borderline skirts. I'm guessing the ones iori wore were probably of the former but either way I can't believe they put this seventeen year old in floofy shorts and he didn't question it

[iori voice] I've been deceived by the culottes!

7. japanese actually has a specific word that means "crossdressing as a woman" (and so a separate one that means "crossdressing as a man"), but I think that in english usually crossdressing gets used to apply to either and the meaning is implied via context?

when tsumugi says that kokona is crossdressing as a woman and iori is crossdressing as a man, she uses the specific words that would imply the opposite, so I think that tsumugi was actually trying to say that cocona is still a woman and iori is still a man? or something like that? when cocona wears it, she's trying to dress as a man. since iori is already a man, if he wears it, he's still dressing like a man?

but since it's meant to be tsumugi's forceful positivity I left it with a slightly less than straightforward wording!

8. iori says that nagi wanted to take a two shot w/ him, which apparently implies it's a picture of a man and a woman. so basically iori is implying that he's still convinced he was crossdressing, poor kid

9. so I tried to look up "honey trap" and I got this, but honestly this chat lost me after the word 'maid' so I just rolled with the honey trap thing and left it as is..........

10. iori does not actually tell tsumugi to shut up, he just tells her she's being yakamashii (which is a very iori-esque retaliation and I think I've talked about it before maybe?), which basically means that she's being loud and obnoxious and iori is very distressed by how tsumugi is trying to imply that because iori looked cute with a ribbon everything was fine

on the first path, the sentence order actually goes "trying to gloss over it, I won't have that happening!", which first of all doesn't make much sense in english, but mostly it puts the emphasis in a different place! so in the original japanese, iori's emphasis is moreso on "I won't let you do this!!!!!", which goes much better with his sort of.... half-petulant, half-triumphant tone, imo? like he's emphasizing how he won't let tsumugi get away (with sweet talking him), whereas in english the emphasis feels more like it's on "glossing over it", which makes it seem more like iori's just objecting to the sweet talking itself, if that makes sense?
