They'd buy manga magazines every week so I'd borrow those and read them

And then they'd say that they wanted to repay me, so I got snacks every day

Even the guys who treated me, they might've actually been reluctant to do it.
I guess I did something bad.

Since you're a very kind person, Tamaki-san, it should be fine if you make the requests gently in a way that they can properly say no at times when they want to refuse.

1. in between "hates conflict?" and "tamaki's past" I think tamaki's ainana gakuen takes the cake for having chat titles that I know I'm not prepared to read......
2. when tsumugi was like "could you tell me about your memories of your student days" I looked at my screen and was like "he's still a student" but then I realized, is that why tamaki comes back with "whaddaya mean by memories" — since he's still a student, none of the stuff he remembers would have happened that long ago.......
3. the neighborhood bully word tsumugi uses can also mean "leader of a small pack of kids", but "tamaki-san were you perhaps the leader of the pack" doesn't flow quite as smoothly imo.....
4. I might be reading the third dialogue path wrong (it's "使えるいい話"), but I'd interpreted it as tsumugi asking for "stories that can be used (tsukaeruii hanashi)" whereas tamaki interprets that same phrase as "good stories to be used" (tsukaeru iihanashi), which is why he replies with "good stories? did I do any good things" — so I thought that the point was based off of the misinterpretation and thus puzzled over how to best translate that dual meaning in a way that it'd be similarly misinterpretable,
but then I realized tsumugi might have also just meant it as "good stories to be used"
5. tsumugi might look at tamaki's stories and be like tamaki-san.......... were you maybe the one in charge.......... but I personally think it is very sweet he helped out kids who were in need
I'd like to think it's his oniichan instincts................. but.................. I just hope it wasn't anything like tamaki misreading a situation......
6. the facility tamaki is referring to is the orphanage he was raised in! I was rereading his ordinary days chats and I think that? he (and aya) might have been picked up by child services? like tamaki mentions his dad showing up at the facility, which makes me think that there was..... something that had to have happened for the yotsuba kids to be separated from the yotsuba dad
which makes the scene where tamaki's dad shows up even more upsetting ughhhhh!!!!!! ugh!!!!
on a marginally related note, tamaki consistently refers to the place he was raised as a 施設 (lit. 'institution' or 'facility'), I'm..... not sure if that can properly connotate to orphanage, or if it's meant to carry a different meaning? I also can't remember if tsumugi or anyone else refers to it as an orphanage (which would mean that it's just the wording tamaki chooses to use)
it's possible that it's a different sort of establishment that's meant for, like.... wards of the state? I'm not sure what the proper way to phrase this is, but since the above makes me think that tamaki's dad didn't abandon him and it was more likely that tamaki (and aya) were taken away by the authorities, calling the facility he was raised in an "orphanage" would technically be incorrect since he and aya aren't actually orphans.
I'd look into the terminology so I could give a better translation and interpretation but this topic makes me sad tbh........
also for the record I'm not 100% certain on whether or not aya was brought to the same facility as tamaki. the exact details of how they got separated still elude me, I'm not sure if I'm looking in the wrong places or if I just missed something in the main story or if the details just.... haven't been revealed yet
7. on a marginally more cheerful note I can't believe tamaki did purikura w/ a bunch of random high school girls without.... realizing it, maybe.....?
8. not 100% certain on the line about the skateboards but at the very least I can take an educated guess and say tamaki yotsuba probably knows how to skateboard?
