TENN KUJO / ORDINARY DAYS : PART 2
Nov. 23rd, 2015 12:28 am【TSUMUGI】: Were these perhaps pictures that you were the sole owner of, Kujo-san?
【TENN】: Is there a reason for me to answer that?
【TENN】: I sent you some data, so if you could confirm it.
【TSUMUGI】: Could this .zip file possibly be...
【TENN】: You wanted pictures of Riku by himself, right.
【TSUMUGI】: Thank you very much!
I'll go ahead and confirm them right away!
【TSUMUGI】: I've taken the time to confirm things!
【TSUMUGI】: If we have this many pictures, it'll be of great help...!
Really, thank you so much...!
【TENN】: Sure.
【TSUMUGI】: Even so, there's such an incredible quantity, I'm deeply impressed!
Were these perhaps pictures that you were the sole owner of, Kujo-san?
【TENN】: Is there a reason for me to answer that?
【TSUMUGI】: P, please excuse me......
【TENN】: When I was a kid, my father gave me his used digital camera.
I turned it into a toy and played with it. It just so happened that I still had the data saved.
【TSUMUGI】: I see, so that was the case!
There's a small question I'd like to ask about the pictures of Riku-san, but...
【TSUMUGI】: Why is it that he's holding a spring onion and crying?
【TENN】: He snuck it out of our mother's bags after she'd returned home from shopping, and hid it in his bed so I scolded him.
【TENN】: It's cute, isn't it.
【TSUMUGI】: Thank you very much for the explanation...!
The other pictures where he's laughing are also incredibly cute!
【TENN】: I'd imagine so.
【TSUMUGI】: I can strongly feel that he was very beloved by his family members!
【TENN】: That's right. We all protected Riku together.
【TSUMUGI】: Why is it that he's in a laundry basket?
【TENN】: Since I wouldn't listen when he said he wanted to go and play outside, I told him I'd listen to any one request he had other than that.
【TENN】: Then, he said that he wanted to get inside of the laundry basket.
It's cute, isn't it.
【TSUMUGI】: Why is it that he's trying to protect a stuffed animal?
【TENN】: Stuffed animals produce dust and so they aren't good, but a relative brought it for Christmas and so I couldn't just not give it to Riku.
【TENN】: Then, the spasms that I'd expected became even more severe and so I tried to take it back from him, but he resisted and wouldn't hand it over.
After I confiscated it, for a while he wouldn't listen to anything I said.
【TENN】: Ever since that incident, I started calling bear stuffed animals "troublemakers".
【TSUMUGI】: Thank you very much for the explanation...!

t/n:
1. ten has this.... prevailing habit of responding to everything with はい and while it literally means 'yes' or 'okay' it always feels a little strange to translate it literally.... tbh it kind of feels like his default "I'm confirming that I've read and received your message but I have nothing to say or add to the conversation" response, which is simultaneously admirably polite and unhelpfully rude
2. in between the icon I have set for ten sitting at the top of my new entry page and the SSR icon on the rabbit chat as I translate off of it, I'm feeling an incredible mood whiplash from ten being like "give me one good reason to answer that question"
3. "I just so happened to have this data saved" "can I ask you a question about this picture" "I can in fact give you the play by play reconstruction of just what exactly happened before after and during the taking of that picture"
like, okay, it's not that I'm doubting ten's memory capabilities, but I'm just saying, you'd have to have spent some amount of time looking at those pictures after they were taken in order to remember what the situation was to that extent........
4. it's also kind of sad that he still remembers his personal list of Things Not Good For Riku's Breathing, or that he was taking care to remember that list even when he was a kid and taking these pictures (I mean, they're probably from when they were toddlers, since the idea is that riku isn't necessarily recognizable) (he has red hair). I...... can kind of almost see why ten refers to it as a bad habit..... ;;
[thinks about riku and ten at christmas] I'm not crying there's just stuffed animal dust in my eye
5. actual translation note but ten says "しまうことにしたんだけど", and I'm...... really not sure if this is just a really long way of saying "and so then I did what I did" or what, so I kind of smudged the translation a bit and tried to make the line read as smoothly as possible.
okay but ten being like "riku I need to take the stuffed animal away from you" "no way" "okay, well, let me take a picture of this, and then let me take the stuffed animal away from you"
6. but why did riku steal the onion in the first place
7. ね is one of those particles that I tend to translate depending on the context, but in ten's last line, I thought I'd point out that his usage of it makes it sound kind of like he's reminiscing! which has been kind of the point of this entire rabbit chat (ten reminiscing), but it feels particularly relevant because it's like he's remembering what it was like, to, be part of, the, nanase, fam il y
