【RIKU】: This is just a feeling I have, but it could be that Yamato-san wants to see me do the things that he's too embarrassed to do himself?

【TSUMUGI】: Riku-san, thank you for all of your hard work!
How was it acting as Yamato-san's attendant for a day?

【RIKU】: It was fun!
【RIKU】: Being onsite for a drama was super interesting!
Yamato-san was so professional, it was a really good learning experience!

【TSUMUGI】: So you had fun being his attendant, then! That's very typical of you, Riku-san.

【RIKU】: Since Nagi made them, I even gave out business cards—.
Receiving business cards, and handing them over, somehow it makes you feel like a real full-fledged member of society!
【RIKU】: Whenever he'd introduce me to his costars or staff
【RIKU】: He'd introduce me by saying "This is my attendant whose poor memory led him into staining my shirts twice" and it was a bit embarrassing, though...
【RIKU】: Seeing Yamato-san participating so actively left a strong impression on me!
Yamato-san acted so reliable onsite, it was really cool!

【TSUMUGI】: I'm very glad to hear that!
So Yamato-san has a soft side for you, too, Riku-san!
[1]: What aspects of Yamato-san do you like?
[2]: Is there anything you find difficult about Yamato-san?
[3]: What do you do when you're together with Yamato-san?

【TSUMUGI】: What aspects of Yamato-san do you like?

【RIKU】: The way that he says funny things, I guess?
【RIKU】: I like his lenient and whatever-works aspects, too.
He's scary when he's mad, but once he stops being mad, he isn't angry anymore......
【RIKU】: Ummmmm, does that make sense?
【RIKU】: I like that Yamato-san's a lot easier to understand than someone like Iori.

【TSUMUGI】: Is Yamato-san easy to understand?

【RIKU】: Whenever I'm honest or work really hard, he's happy.
He tells me I'm a good kid a lot.
【RIKU】: His normally sharp face gets really soft.
This is just a feeling I have, but it could be that Yamato-san wants to see me do the things that he's too embarrassed to do himself?

【TSUMUGI】: Is there anything you find difficult about Yamato-san?

【RIKU】: The way that sometimes I feel he's distant?
【RIKU】: Yamato-san doesn't really like to talk about it, but I'd like to know about Yamato-san's family, or what he's been doing up until now.
【RIKU】: Sogo-san doesn't really talk about things like that, either.
【RIKU】: I like that Yamato-san's a lot easier to understand than someone like Iori.

【TSUMUGI】: Is Yamato-san easy to understand?

【RIKU】: Whenever I'm honest or work really hard, he's happy.

【TSUMUGI】: What do you do when you're together with Yamato-san?

【RIKU】: We just mess around normally, really. I guess there's a lot of times where I'm the one who calls out to him.
【RIKU】: Once, there was a time where he told me I resembled a dog, and so I pretended to act like one.
【RIKU】: Like, give me your paw. Now the other one. Turn around three times and bark.
【RIKU】: I got asked by Iori if I didn't have any pride, but I was pretty good at imitating a dog!
【RIKU】: I like that Yamato-san's a lot easier to understand than someone like Iori.

t/n:

1. one of my least favorite to translate words is "しっかり", it gets used to describe iori the most from what I've seen.... it reminds me kind of an onomatopoetic word and so translating it is difficult in that sense, but! basically its literal meaning is "reliable" or "level-headed" or "well put-together" — it's used to describe iori a lot because he is very On Top Of His Shit and like, generally very aware of what's proper? definition-wise I always think of it as being something that's very firmly held together, but.... generally, that's not something that you'd go out of your way to praise someone for being in english? so.

in this case riku is basically saying that yamato was being very professional, or really seemed to know what he was doing, or was generally on top of what was going on as opposed to his general nonbiri nii-chan mode

2. does this mean that nagi made riku business cards that said something like "Riku Nanase (IDOLiSH7) | Yamato Nikaido's Attendant" with, like, anime stars all over it

3. I see it sometimes where characters will end their sentences with two commas like 、、, and I'm never really sure how exactly to translate that into english.... I think it's meant to be kind of like a slightly more stilted way of trailing off with an ellipses, though!

4. yamato's introduction line for riku flows a lot better in japanese, I couldn't quite get the sequencing and flow to translate properly so I decided to go in the other direction and make it as dramatic as possible to..... somewhat convey..... a similar meaning.... the point is that yamato went out of his way to introduce riku by describing him as a forgetful attendant who has stained (his shirts) twice

5. I'm not sure what tsumugi really meant by saying yamato had a soft side for riku (or even if I'm translating the line properly), but I think it might follow along with the general theme of people feeling themselves wanting to cheer him on being one of riku's strongest qualities — conversely, most people have a hard time being mean or inconsiderate to riku because of that same quality. so I think what tsumugi is saying is that even yamato who could honestly give resident tsundere iori izumi a run for his money when it comes to tsunness, feels a similar effect from riku? it's tough for me to explain how exactly that would make him want to show riku what he's like when he's actually serious about work, but that's the impression of the meaning I'm getting!

riku's such a good kid

[tsumugi voice] only riku-san could come away from acting as someone's attendant for a day and be like "that was so much fun!"

6. the dog imitation section was.... kind of difficult to translate, just because all riku said was each command and then とか, but basically I think he's giving examples of what sort of commands yamato was giving? I......

I.............................

7. it's getting to the point where I might have to propose the "take a shot every time riku compares someone to iori/uses iori as the base metric" drinking game

he does reference sougo a lot, too, though.....

8. when riku talks about yamato getting mad, the basic meaning is that yamato isn't the type who appears to hold grudges, I think! like once he's finished being mad he pretty much won't keep harping on it

9. I feel like this is one of the chats with the fewest number of lines for tsumugi? it felt long when I was translating it so I guess riku just really had a lot to say about yamato...!
