SOGO OSAKA / HALLOWEEN : PART 3
Nov. 18th, 2015 01:55 am【SOGO】: In reality, I think that he's even more level-headed than me, and a reliable, serious person.
【TSUMUGI】: Sogo-san, thank you for all of your hard work on the MV filming.
Your adult-like entanglement with Yamato-san was truly very adult-like and stunning!
【SOGO】: Thanks for all of your hard work.
It's fine, you really don't have to keep repeating "adult-like" so desperately.......
But since you kept being made fun of even after the filming, I can understand how you feel.
【TSUMUGI】: If I'd known that I'd be teased by Yamato-san to this extent,
I feel as if it'd be better if I'd,
Abused my authority and had a borderline sexual harassment scene added........
【SOGO】: If you'd done that, it might have made things difficult for me, too.....
【TSUMUGI】: Sogo-san, you and Yamato-san have completely opposite types.
The fact that the two of you get along so well despite that is a very mysterious feeling.
【SOGO】: That's because Yamato-san tends to display himself half-heartedly.
In reality, I think that he's even more level-headed than me, and a reliable, serious person.
【TSUMUGI】: So you've placed quite a bit of trust in Yamato-san, then!
【TSUMUGI】: Which aspects of Yamato-san do you like?
【SOGO】: The fact that no matter what happens, he's rarely ever agitated by it, maybe?
I think it's incredible, so I really respect him.
【SOGO】: I'm sure that Yamato-san's just taken a liking to you, manager.
I think that's why, without realizing it, he always ends up bantering with you.
There might be times when his jokes go too far for a girl, though.
【TSUMUGI】: Does telling jokes really mean that you're fond of someone?
【SOGO】: That's because fundamentally speaking, you don't want to hurt a girl.
Wouldn't you only be able to tell jokes and quarrel with a girl who you feel you're close enough with?
【TSUMUGI】: Sogo-san, you never tell jokes to me, do you...?
【SOGO】: That's only because I'm not good with jokes........
Just wait. I'll think up some sort of a good joke to tell you.
【TSUMUGI】: What do you find difficult about Yamato-san?
【SOGO】: I can't really think of anything I find difficult about him, I guess.
There are times when it causes problems because I can't tell whether he's being serious or joking, though.
【SOGO】: I'm sure that Yamato-san's just taken a liking to you, manager.

【TSUMUGI】: When you're with Yamato-san, what do you do?
【SOGO】: I'll come to him asking for advice, or else listen to Yamato-san talk.
Right around when we'd just come to the dorm, I taught Yamato-san and Mitsuki-san how to cook.
【SOGO】: I'm sure that Yamato-san's just taken a liking to you, manager.

t/n:
1. that feel when you look up a word and the results that come back are "despair; desperation; abandonment"
2. okay what tsumugi says about yamato is definitely not very nice, but I'm guessing that her idea of revenge for getting back at yamato constantly making cracks about the mature and sexy concept being to her liking (so, like, sekuhara basically) is to make yamato record his sins of sexual harassment on film during the MV as proof to his sinnamon roll ways. meanwhile sougo is like ok manager I understand you are very frazzled but please do not make things awkward for me, I do not want to be on the receiving end of this borderline sekuhara scene
3. not only can I not believe that tsumugi is 18 and yet never got the "boys tease girls they like" stereotype lecture, but on top of that I can't believe the one who is giving her said lecture is Certified Tired Mom Sougo Ousaka
then again, her dad does seem like the kind of guy who'd start sharpening the banana slicer whenever boys started hanging around his daughter........
4. I am really bad with transitive and intransitive verbs and particles in japanese so it could very well be that sougo was taught by yamato and mitsuki how to cook (since mitsuki is good at baking cakes, I would've expected him to be somewhat familiar with 'cooking' as a subset........), but since one of sougo's quotes is "I tend to cook for myself a lot", it didn't really make sense to me if he's like "yeah, I'm the type who cooks for myself, but I only learned how to cook after yamato-san and mitsuki-san taught me how"
especially since in the iron chef manga chapter he's like "aw shucks I accidentally fell back into my penny pincher meal making habits" or s/t? I think?
5. sougo differentiates between writing 'joke' in kanji as 冗談 and in katakana as ジョーク and I'm..... not really sure what the difference in meaning is meant to be?
6. sougo uses the word "困る" a lot in this chapter and it's another one of those tricky to translate succinctly phrases..... basically it's sort of like saying, that'd be a problem for me, this is causing a problem for me, I feel somehow trapped and troubled by what ever it is that is trapping and troubling me.
sougo says it a lot, probably because it's a very indirect way of voicing dissatisfaction? it's not quite like an outright or upfront "no, you/I can't do that", but it's more like saying "that would be difficult for me" (but really you mean No You/I Can't Do That)
