【YAMATO】: But, what with how haphazard this group is, I think it's good that we have someone like Sou around.
【YAMATO】: If we didn't have him, it'd be a total lawless land.
【TSUMUGI】: Yamato-san, thank you for all of your hard work!
The costume fitting for the MV has ended.
Your dark suit was very cool, Yamato-san!
【YAMATO】: It's because the adult factor's gone up considerably compared to usual.
I'm so very glad you could be pleased by it.
【TSUMUGI】: I, it's not as if I asked for it because of my personal tastes!
【TSUMUGI】:
【TSUMUGI】: U, ummmm, in any case, your involvement with Sogo-san was also very stunning!
【YAMATO】: That's what you'd expect from Sou and his multi-layered ability to match anything from a refreshing taste to a dark taste—.
Although, in that guy's case, it's not just his exterior that's multi-layered, but his insides, too.
【TSUMUGI】: In a dark direction, you mean?
Isn't Sogo-san a kind person, though.
【YAMATO】: Manager, you just don't get it, huh.
If you compared Sou to an earthquake, he'd be the type where the depth is really far down.
Even if all you're experiencing is a slight tremble, he's the kind of person where there's an enormous amount of magma swelling underground.
【TSUMUGI】: B, by that you mean that he's scary when he's mad?
【YAMATO】: There's that, too, but the point is that rather than showing on the surface, there's something much deeper going on inside.
【TSUMUGI】: You seem to understand Sogo-san very well!
【YAMATO】: It's because he sort of resembles me.
At the crossroads in life, if you become a good citizen who sincerely fusses over everything, you have him.
【YAMATO】: Whereas if you curve towards thinking of things as whatever works, you get me.
【YAMATO】: But, what with how haphazard this group is, I think it's good that we have someone like Sou around.
【YAMATO】: If we didn't have him, it'd be a total lawless land.
Riku and Mitsu've got enough common sense, but there are still a few gaps here and there—.
【TSUMUGI】: Then, I see that you're placing a great deal of trust in Sogo-san....!
【YAMATO】: Well, sure I am.
【TSUMUGI】: What sort of relationship do you and Sogo-san have?
【YAMATO】: Sou asks me for advice a lot.
【YAMATO】: There's his personality to take into consideration, but don't you think he's come to view me as some sort of a superior to him?
There's something similar in how he treats Mitsu, too.

【YAMATO】: Well, sure I am.
【TSUMUGI】: Please tell me some interesting stories about Sogo-san!
【YAMATO】: That guy's so damned serious that it's almost what makes him funny.
【YAMATO】: One time, I'd asked him to help with shopping at the greengrocer, and when the vendor said "1,000,000 yen for daikon!", he took it seriously.
【YAMATO】: When I told him he should be more aggressive, I laughed because the next day he was reading a book called "A Book On How To Be Aggressive".

t/n:
1. tsumugi kills me point blank by using "otsukaresama" twice in a row — first she uses it to greet yamato, and then she thanks him for his hard work on the costume fitting. thanks tsumugi!!!
2. my favorite thing about translating is that sometimes I have to look up a japanese word's translation, and then I have to look up the definition for that translation (in english), so it's like, not only do I not speak japanese, but I also don't even speak english? anyways the result I got for "間口" (the thing of sougo's that is vast and thus allows him to accommodate all of these different concepts THIS WORDING FEELS SO STRANGE!!!) was "frontage", and then I had to look up frontage but all I got back were architectural terms, so......
basically the general meaning is that sougo is? multi-layered? varied? very complex? very multi-talented? the token yandere character?
so I wrote multi-layered and called it a day
3. why does yamato compare everyone to natural disasters. first he compares ten to a blizzard, now he's comparing sougo to an earthquake. anyways the lit. translation for what he says is "the depth is deep" and I'm already exhausted because of the frontage deal, so I just changed it to "really far down"!
4. suddenly, I can very strongly empathize with tamaki complaining about how yamato can suddenly get very serious, this chat took so long to translate all of the details, even if I got the general gist fairly easily........
5. the same "斜め上" that haunted me during translating secret night has returned with a vengeance!!!!! in this context (when yamato is talking about sougo being So Damned Serious — it's not supposed to sound that severe, maybe I should have said "he's so darned serious" but then I feel like yamato is speaking with a piece of grass seed caught between his teeth, y'know.), I think that yamato is saying that on top of being so serious, sougo is interesting — so the two traits are interrelated, hence why I translated it as "it's almost what makes him funny"
6. okay this greengrocer scenario is completely eluding me, the main takeaway point I'm getting is that sougo tries to solve his problems by buying manuals. How To Approach Adolescents. How To Be More Assertive. 10 Helpful Tips For Talking To Teenagers. anyways, regarding the actual greengrocer situation, I think..... basically, what yamato is saying is that sougo didn't know how to haggle, maybe?? I don't really know what 肩の力を抜く is meant to translate as, so I estimated it as "being aggressive", m-maybe I'll properly google it sometime when I'm not exhausted from translating (in hindsight a very simple) number, lol!

Date: 2016-04-20 10:20 pm (UTC)Excuse me while I cry in relief. I was wondering what he meant all throughout bc my Japanese isn't good enough to comprehend the Deep Stuff.
This gave me more insight on their character. Thank you <3
