Since he bought me spaghetti I thought he must have been a good person.

【TSUMUGI】： Because "Star Camp" was originally an audition programme, with the theme of the instant a star is scouted, I've heard that they'll be requesting comments from a few participants in between live shows.
【TSUMUGI】： If the content is interesting enough, IDOLiSH7 might also be brought into the conversation!
Would it be alright if I asked you about the time when you were scouted, Tamaki-san?
【TAMAKI】： Is that when I met the boss?
【TSUMUGI】： That's correct!
【TAMAKI】： I'd dance with some friends in front of train stations and stuff, and people'd put change in our hats

【TAMAKI】： I didn't really get what he was saying but

【TAMAKI】： No, I figured I could beat him. He was an old man, after all.

I can't believe tamaki came up with the petnames for everyone on the day they first met, and the day that they played basketball was also the first day they met. uhh I'm not sure how much of this is common knowledge, but tamaki was raised in an orphanage after his mother died, he was separated from his sister, and his dad....... did whatever his dad did for the past however many years.
it's also covered in his ordinary days card but translating it makes me sad so I've been putting it off...... translating this chat made me sad. tamaki makes me sad
3. idk which is worse, the fact that tsumugi is asking tamaki if he didn't feel nervous about being approached by her father the middle-aged man, or the fact that tamaki was like well, I was pretty sure I could beat that ossan up if I had to 1v1 him irl
everyone is so mean to takanashi sr. in these scouting chapters........

I'm not really sure if tamaki is saying that he's just had a bunch of strangers tell him he's pretty cool and he turned all of them down because he had people tell him as much but then refuse to buy him his spaghetti with meat sauce, or if he's saying that he..... worked with someone who'd "scouted" him once before in the past, but they never gave him anything for it? I can't tell from the japanese, so I translated it kind of vaguely so it could go either way. I wouldn't put it past this story for tamaki to have worked for someone else prior to joining idolish7, given all of the yamato in the entertainment industry drama........ but, I could also just be reading into it wrongly, and tamaki meant it as in he'd just had a lot of people tell him that without anything ever coming of it.
