MITSUKI IZUMI / i7 ACADEMY : PART 1
Nov. 1st, 2015 11:15 pm【TSUMUGI】: I, I'm so sorry!
Mitsuki-san, your role was originally a female instructor!
【MITSUKI】: EEEEEEEEEEEH!
So THAT'S what it meant by admired, then!!!
【TSUMUGI】: Thank you for all of your hard work on the filming for the variety school minidrama, "I7 Academy"!
【TSUMUGI】: Episode 1's script was very interesting. Mitsuki-san, your role of the home economics teacher was very mature and stunning...!
【MITSUKI】: Thanks!
【MITSUKI】: Gosh—, I'm glad I have an instructor role!
To be honest, I'd been worried that I might get cast with a student's part.
【MITSUKI】: Getting to play a schoolteacher is the best!
【MITSUKI】:
【TSUMUGI】: I'm glad that you're pleased!
The role of the home economics teacher that the protagonist admires is the perfect role for you, Mitsuki-san!
【MITSUKI】: Ehehe!
【MITSUKI】:
【MITSUKI】: But, even though judging from the lines it seems like a pretty smart role, am I actually kind of clumsy?
I get kidnapped by delinquents, or something?
【TSUMUGI】: Since it's the teacher admired by the protagonist, in order to force the protagonist into action, it's necessary for there to be situations where you're in a pinch.
【MITSUKI】: Ohh—, I get it!
By admired, does that mean the protagonist is aiming to become a chef?
【MITSUKI】: Also, it says that when the protagonist takes private lessons from me, there's a heart-thumping cooking scene, but is the cooking we're gonna do really that difficult?
【TSUMUGI】: Not at all! It'll be your specialty, cakes!
【MITSUKI】: Wait???
Hold on???
【MITSUKI】: Here under setting, it looks like it's been hurriedly crossed out twice, but,
【MITSUKI】: What's with the "Fiancé: Sogo Osaka"???
【TSUMUGI】: I, I'm so sorry!
Mitsuki-san, your role was originally a female instructor!
【MITSUKI】: EEEEEEEEEEEH!
So THAT'S what it meant by admired, then!!!
【TSUMUGI】: Originally, they'd intended on casting a female star in the role, but the production side took great consideration in realizing that IDOLiSH7 were still rookie idols.......
【TSUMUGI】: At the very last minute, it was changed from female to male.
【MITSUKI】: So that's what happened!!
For sure, if she's a teacher admired by Riku, and Sogo's fiancé, the fans would feel pretty conflicted—.
【MITSUKI】: Alright! If there's circumstances like that, it can't be helped!
For the sake of those two's fans, I'll pitch in and help! The current setting's a man, after all!
【MITSUKI】: But, if it was changed so suddenly, aren't there gonna be a lot of inconsistencies?
【TSUMUGI】: If it lacks coherency, then they've said that they'll add some fantasy elements, and go with the setting of you having originally been a woman!
【MITSUKI】: This feels like it's gonna get incredibly exhausting......!!
I won't have to do anything like crossdress, right?
【MITSUKI】:
【TSUMUGI】: I'll be sure to tell them it's NG!
Otherwise, rather than crossdressing, it could possibly happen that you'd continue to speak as a man, and solely within the drama would you be set as a woman
【MITSUKI】: If that's the case, I'd be super grateful, but would anybody even think I'm a woman....?
【TSUMUGI】: In that case, whenever someone called out to you, they would absolutely refer to you as "the beautiful female home economics instructor, Izumi-sensei", and we would make do with that!
【TSUMUGI】: Or else, explain it using subtitles!
【MITSUKI】: That seems overwhelmingly heavy-handed, but since it's a comedy, I guess it'd be fine......?

t/n:
1. MATURE IN THIS CASE IS LIKE ADULT WRITTEN IN KANJI, NOT THE ADULT THAT YOU SEE IN THE HALLOWEEN CHATS I'm sorry I'm still very shaken from some of the content of some of those chats. they keep getting worse
2. I do sometimes have a hard time translating mitsuki's chats because he uses the most slang (tamaki is also a big offender but with him the issue is moreso that he speaks in what feels like shorthand.....), so sometimes I have to guess at the meaning based on the context.... one of the instances is the line about the delinquents; mitsuki says something in the middle of the line that I have no idea how to translate, so I guessed at the meaning based on the thing about the delinquents and tsumugi's response......
I can't believe mitsuki-sensei gets kidnapped by delinquents
3. "heart-thumping" is pretty much my go-to translation whenever I see dokidoki because I think it looks ridiculous, but "dokidoki" as onomatopoeia for when your heart is beating fast can mean both beating fast because something is exciting in a good way, and beating fast because something is exciting in a bad way (i.e., you are being attacked by an ostrich). I'm guessing that originally the dokidoki scene was thus so because it was the protagonist and his admired teacher being alone together (kyaaaaa), but since the role's been adapted to a guy (see the next t/l note), mitsuki is thinking that it must be dokidoki in the latter sense, like the lesson would be very difficult?
4. OK so I was a bit confused about the situation regarding the gender of mitsuki's role (between yamato's ch1 and riku's ch2 I was like What is Happening), but basically originally they were going to have a female idol play the home ec teacher, and so the script was written with the intention of the role being female — hence why she's engaged to sougo and admired by riku (geez, how did they plan on resolving that love triangle). then, the production team realized that since i7 were rookie idols and (as mitsuki comments) having a female idol playing a part that was like Romantically Involved w/ two of the members could cause trouble w/ the fans, so they changed the home ec teacher's setting to being a man, played by mitsuki. but they left in the admired by the protagonist bit and.... just kind of crossed out the fiance thing, I guess LOL
anyways in their later attempt to make the drama 10 Times More Anime a la Nagi, they changed it back so that mitsuki's character was a girl all along (pretending to be a guy?? I think?? probably???). so tl;dr the home ec teacher went from being a girl to being a guy and then back to being a girl
it is so needlessly complicated.
5. when he yells EHHHHHH (there were 11 e's, I counted), mitsuki also stipulates like "it's the female teacher type of admired", but I couldn't figure out how to word it nicely so I changed it to a capital "THAT'S" instead.
6. I wish I were a bit more coherent right now so I could think of a better way to fit the phrase "I have a premonition this is gonna get super tiring" into mitsuki's voice, but alas...
