YAMATO NIKAIDO / HALLOWEEN : PART 1
Oct. 30th, 2015 07:00 pm【YAMATO】: Huh? No, that doesn't add up.
What happened to that 21 year old guy?
【TSUMUGI】: Yamato-san, thank you for all of your hard work.
Have you had a chance to listen to IDOLiSH7's new song?
【YAMATO】: Oh— I heard it, I heard it
【YAMATO】: It's a little more adult-like than usual
【TSUMUGI】: That's true!
Since that's the case, while we'll be requesting that Riku-san stay as the center, for the MV, we'd like to have you and Sogo-san build the mood and pull the others along!
【YAMATO】: Talking in terms of age, out of our group that's who it would be, huh.
【YAMATO】: Huh? No, that doesn't add up.
What happened to that 21 year old guy?
【TSUMUGI】: Of course, we also plan on requesting a more adult-like image from Mitsuki-san!
【YAMATO】: Well—, Mitsu does have that feeling of refreshing, youthful health, after all.
I get it. Roger.
【TSUMUGI】: Thank you very much!
【YAMATO】: Speaking of which,
Manager, do you think of both me and Sou as being adult-like?
【YAMATO】: Which parts?
【TSUMUGI】: Erm, that would be speaking in terms of age.....
【YAMATO】: Mitsu's not included, though.
Hey, hey, tell me.
What is it about onii-san that you see as adult-like, manager?
【TSUMUGI】: Wh......., why are you asking in a way that's as if you're
Purposefully trying to make it embarrassing to answer?
【TSUMUGI】:

1. it's pretty frequent in the rabbit chats (and also the manga? I think) for idolish7 to be split into the "adult group" and the "minors group" (or team instead of group), or the adult team and the kid team. adult usually includes yamato, sougo, and mitsuki, leaving nagi, riku, iori, and tamaki in the second group. technically iori and tamaki are the only minors, though, hence why sometimes it's child and sometimes it's minors depending on who's included.
2. pretty much every time the word "adult" is used in this chat, it's being written in katakana (rather than in kanji as 大人) — so, it means adult more like An Adult(/Mature) Feeling, rather than adult as in someone who is ≥ 20 years old. the word adult doesn't look like a word anymore.
3. it probably looks strange to see yamato repeating a phrase like that; it's an Actual Thing that happens a lot in japanese and doesn't look or sound quite as strange, but I'm not sure what the appropriate way to translate it, meaning-wise, would be.... it's basically being repeated for emphasis, I always picture someone nodding their head?
4. I can't figure out what "ならんだろ" is meant to mean for the life of me..... at first I thought it might have been a typo but after googling it, apparently the phrase is very much a pattern that shows up in japanese, but I can't figure out what it means, rip.... SO I guessed by the concept and went with the translation you see. m(_ _)m
5. where is that tumblr post that's like "yamato: looks like a cinnamon roll but is actually a SINNamon roll" asking for a friend
6. on a marginally more composed note, I think that.... going forward, I'm just going to leave it as "onii-san" whenever yamato refers to himself as such. it probably looks awkward (well, I mean, he's referring to himself in the third person, so of course it's awkward) but it'll spare me some trouble and I think it's worth leaving the meaning intact? basically, he's treating tsumugi like a kid whenever he pulls the onii-san card, which makes this line even worse
idk I'll think about it and probably change my mind constantly like I do with deciding on how to stylize nagi's gratuitous english
7. in other news, this is the first time I've seen tsumugi use the angry kinako out of all of the rabbit chats I've read! .... c-congrats, yamato
