【TSUMUGI】: Yamato-san, you're actually playing the school doctor.
【YAMATO】: Seriously, was there a need for me to dress up as a student!?
【TSUMUGI】: Thank you for all of your hard work on today's filming for the variety school academy minidrama, "i7 Academy"!
【TSUMUGI】: Episode 1's script was very interesting. Your school uniform appearance was very endearing, Yamato-san.
【YAMATO】: Was it really necessary for me to dress up as a student?
Mitsu, Sou, and even Nagi are all in teacher roles, so why is it that I'm in a student role.
【TSUMUGI】: It was the production side's sole wish!
【YAMATO】: ...... Even though I'm 22, they gave me a school uniform.......
【TSUMUGI】: It suited you very nicely! It was incredibly stunning!
For once, Yamato-san, you seemed to be very embarrassed, so it was a very fresh feeling, too
【TSUMUGI】:
【YAMATO】:
【YAMATO】: Still, even though it's a comedy and so anything goes, the content is pretty incredible.
Especially Mitsu's setting.............
【TSUMUGI】: They were originally going to ask a female star to play that part, but the production side took great care in realizing that IDOLiSH7 were still rookie idols.
【TSUMUGI】: So, they did the casting in a way that wouldn't involve female stars.
【YAMATO】: Oh, I see....
【YAMATO】: With this positioning, it's obviously the heroine role.
【YAMATO】: If it were an actual female idol, things might get aggravated, so since it's a comedy, doing it like this might be fine after all.
【YAMATO】: What's with the "Next time, Yamato Nikaido's true colors will be revealed!"?
【TSUMUGI】: Yamato-san, you're actually playing the school doctor.
【YAMATO】: Seriously, was there a need for me to dress up as a student!?
【TSUMUGI】: Using an alias to approach the transfer student, Riku-san, having him come to trust you as a fellow classmate was the key point!
The friendship scene between the two of you was incredibly stunning!
【YAMATO】: The one where we kept walking along the railroad tracks, right.
But, doesn't the setting make it so that I'm deceiving Riku?
Is it really okay to broadcast a scene that's this much of a one-time only deal....?
【TSUMUGI】: It's fine!
Children will always have the desire to throw away things that are precious to them!

1. uhhh this is me speculating, so I'll preface this by saying that I'm not 100% sure on what the deal is w/ not involving female talent in the casting, but.... it might be something as simple as like, they're still rookie idols who will probably be nervous working with female idols? I think this might be a Bit Deep, but there is also like the whole no-dating-rule culture, and so having a girl idol playing the heroine role could lead to like.... scandal fodder, or something. and so thus mitsuki was cast as the heroine
2. this is a translation note that doesn't even have anything to do with this rabbit chat bc yamato consistently uses ore throughout it, but he does sometimes refer to himself as onii-san rather than ore when he's talking to tsumugi (and the other members in the main story sometimes) -- usually it's only when he's trying to play up his seniority or something, but I haven't translated many of yamato's rabbit chats bc I'm never sure if I should translate the distinction or not.....
he also very strangely wrote riku's name in kanji instead of katakana so I'm squinting. yamato please be consistent
3. I don't rly know what the deal is with tsumugi talking about kids throwing away their dreams, but there's a phrase in yamato's previous line that I'm not sure how to translate at all, so.... if it's not very clear, that's why! yamato uses a phrase when he refers to the scene, and I googled it to little avail, so I just.... went with a literal translation that would fit with tsumugi saying that children will always have the desire to throw away that which is important to them.
my guess is that yamato's meaning is something along the lines of, "since this is a setting where I'm tricking riku, is it really okay to shoot a scene that's so inspirational (the friendship scene) — when actually riku's being deceived", and tsumugi responds with "it's fine, important things can become not that important all the time". tsumugi that's so depressing
4. interestingly enough this chat makes a distinction between "wearing a student's clothes" and "wearing a school uniform". I did not actually realize that the sei in gakusei and the sei in seifuku were not the same character, but now I do. you learn something new every day.....
I always laugh really hard when one of them responds to tsumugi's cheerful kinako sticker with the angry kinako sticker, like a+ workplace communication here
5. so, I guess that mitsuki's role having been a woman all along was always the setting, and not something new with the Changes a la Nagi? since yamato and tsumugi both kind of hint at how originally a girl was going to play his part and all. I kind of wonder what their original pitch for yamato's role was going to be, since he went from being the school doctor who got close to the transfer student riku under the guise of being a student (SERIOUSLY HOW DID THE REST OF THE STAFF/STUDENTS NOT NOTICE) to being the school doctor who got close to the transfer student riku under the guise of being a student but also the Ruler Of The school
............ which is a translation note that I will probably have to make during his ch. 2, because 'ruler' is kind of a bit of a misleading translation the more I think about it....
