my main issue is that I can't tell if iori is outright saying that he himself had the dancer dude (from mitsuki's 4th chapter!) Get Schooled by being like "I had him get fuckin schooled", or if he's trying to pretend he didn't have a hand in the Getting Of Schooling of said dancer dude by being like "it seems that he managed to get fuckin schooled, I have no idea how that happened though", so I'm not sure which direction is more appropriate to translate it in in that respect....!

15. before I take a moment to wade through the sea of tears that is Birthday Messages, I want to!! talk about!!! how many times mitsuki has said 'thank you' throughout this entire chat! okay so I haven't read iori's or yamato's but I've at least got confirmation that mitsuki interjecting as often as he was is fairly unique to mitsuki, but I'm also fairly certain that iori and yamato didn't do the *preEMPTS BIRTHDAY MESSAGES BY SAYING THANK YOU*

part of this is because compared to characters like iori and yamato who are varying levels of emotionally restrained/repressed, mitsuki is fairly emotionally open when it comes to expressing gratitude/positive emotions, so of course he's going to be dropping arigatous left and right

but part of it, I want to think, also has to do with the psychology of gratitude and, like, basically what it means to thank people before they've even done anything, or while they're still doing things? first of all it's a way of subconsciously expressing deep emotion if you keep saying something over and over, because if you're repeating something then clearly it is!! something that's taking up a lot of space on your mind!! and in this case mitsuki just keeps saying "thank you" and I

but also, trying to preempt things by saying thank you, there is so much that's going on there I do not know whERE TO START. first of all, it shows just how unaccustomed mitsuki is to actually being made the center of attention? sure he's a guy who's been generally "popular" and well-liked, but I don't really get the impression mitsuki was ever the center of his classroom or anything? it feels more like he was the kind of guy who everyone knew and probably liked on some level, but I don't think he would've ever been nominated for like "most popular" or anything? just because how embarrassed he is by being in the center, I think, shows that he's really not used to actually having attention pointed onto him?

but it also shows that he's trying to not let himself be disappointed, I think!

1.) nagi is pretty much being coached as the Number One Closest To Mitsuki Person in this chat; he's the last one to send his message, and he's the one who's physically With Mitsuki during the chat
2.) how in the 4th chat tsumugi comments that so many of mitsuki's requests were meant to benefit the other party, and mitsuki comments, "it's more fun for me when other people are happy"

Seriously though, reading your translation of this card's rabicha has made me incredibly emotional, I honestly shed a few tears and shouted MY SUNSHINE SON, MY BABY BE HAPPY and I was really happy with his last sign off because??? Mitsuki deserves to be the happiest person in the universe.

I love how everyone is there, showering Mitsuki with all the love he deserves bc he gave so much of himself to them first.
