1. did you know that probably the #1 most difficult thing about translating japanese to english is (the lack of honorific language) going from a passive-friendly to a passive-unfriendly language, well, now you do

2. nagi refers to himself and tamaki using english terms (キャプテン and ガンナー) whereas mitsuki and iori are referred to using japanese terms (海賊 and 航海士), so I capitalised nagi's and tamaki's terms whereas I left mitsuki's and iori's uncapitalised to imply a similar idea! he's referring to everyone's roles in their Pretend Game Of Pirates, ofc

3. can you imagine if I'd been translating '海賊' as 'sea robber' this entire time

4. why is nagi rokuya using a fancy word like hegemony

5. to make my life difficult (see t/l note 2), nagi refers to riku as 'riku-senchou' (captain), but he does it at the beginning of the sentence so if I capitalised captain it might look like he said it in katakana when Alas,

hence the random 'the'

6. nagi says that iori had 睨みが利く with riku which is 1. making me laugh because imagine iori putting riku in one of those baby leash backpacks 2. making me laugh because the first word means "to glare/scowl"

7. man I remember when the joker flag costumes first came out everyone and their brother was 1. drawing pirate outfits for trigger and 2. incorporating tsumugi into this so bamco bringing it up is like Whoa there when I think about that

8. it also makes me laugh bc in this case nagi's like "u could be a 凛々 pirate queen" (cold, frigid, severe, commanding"

9. nagi uses the kanji 陸 on one instance in this chat and 1. at first I thought he was referring to riku 2. then I thought "is this another pun on riku's name" 3. then I realised "wait it's kanji nagi doesn't do kanji names" 4.

10. "by sharing a dance you mean a dance??" Tsumugi please

(nagi refers to it as an 踊り whereas tsumugi refers to it in ktkn as a ダンス which is literally "dance" "dance" in english....... so I made tsumugi call it a ball Because I Can)

11. nagi says 一番に when he talks abt the extent he wants tsumugi to dance with him at, which in this context could either mean "dance with me first" or "dance with me the most". I think bOTH ARE FEASIBLE GIVen nagi's personality, but I went with 'first' because that one seemed less objectionable....

14. no joke it is actually very impressive of mitsuki and nagi to manage to swordfight with a sword and hook without either one of them being injured

PERSonally I think it is rly impressive of mitsuki because the range between his sword and nagi is probably a lot shorter than the range between nagi's hook and mitsuki (so it'd be easier to misgauge and accidentally hit nagi) but [the crowd hisses] we know you're a mitsuki fan OK, WELL, IT'S ALSO VERY IMPRESSIVE OF NAGI TO MANEUVRE A HOOK IN SWORD FIGHTING

unless mitsuki brought a knife to a swordfight but I checked his card and he has like??? a scimitar-looking thing??? dang boy
