TAMAKI YOTSUBA / UNIT : PART 4
【TAMAKI】: I'm gonna yell after all. Sorry. Seriously I'm sorry!!!!
【TAMAKI】: Manager are you there?
【TAMAKI】: What should I do
【TSUMUGI】: Thank you for all of your hard work, Tamaki-san!
Today was a recording in Osaka, correct. Has something happened?
According to the schedule, this should be around when the recording was ending, but.....
【TAMAKI】: It ended, but is it bad if I yell at an important person?
【TSUMUGI】: I, it's bad! What happened?
【TAMAKI】: Uh huh
【TAMAKI】: I dunno what to do...
【TAMAKI】: Is alcohol bad for your stomach?
【TSUMUGI】: I don't believe it's particularly good...
I've heard that if it's just a little, it can help ease pain, but.......
【TAMAKI】: Then, is it okay if I yell at an important person after all?
Is it okay just for today?
【TSUMUGI】: W, what is it that happened?
【TAMAKI】: Sou-chan's getting all limp
【TSUMUGI】: Limp!?
【TAMAKI】: I'm gonna yell after all. Sorry. Seriously I'm sorry!!!!
【TSUMUGI】: Please wait! Please explain it a bit more!
Why has Sogo-san become limp?
【TAMAKI】: The limpness, it's diagonally?
【TSUMUGI】: Diagonally!?
【TAMAKI】: I'm getting more and more pissed. Why does this guy try to do everything by himself.
I'm just gonna take Sou-chan and go home. I'll just have to come by later and do dogeza and it'll be fine.
【TSUMUGI】: Could it be, Sogo-san, he's being made to drink alcohol!?
【TAMAKI】: Didn't I just say that!
【TAMAKI】: 'Cause I can't drink, he's drinking in my place.
【TAMAKI】: Even though I told him he just hurt his stomach, the irritating old man's saying alcohol is good for your health.
【TAMAKI】: I thought ohh is that so, but Sou-chan keeps lurching over.
【TSUMUGI】: Tamaki-san, I'll be the one to do dogeza!
【TSUMUGI】: Catch hold of a store attendant and have them call a taxi, and then simply say that you've received an urgent notification. If you do that, will you be able to take Sogo-san and leave?
【TAMAKI】: Got it!
【TSUMUGI】: I'm really terribly sorry!
If only I'd been present at the location, something like this wouldn't have happened......
【TSUMUGI】: Once you've left the restaurant, please call me!
【TSUMUGI】:
【TSUMUGI】: Thank you for taking the call!
I informed you of it over the phone moments ago, but I'll paste the address of the hotel the two of you will be staying at here, as well!
【TSUMUGI】: Please inform the taxi driver of it too!
【TAMAKI】: Manager what do I do
【TSUMUGI】: What happened!? Is the taxi not coming?
【TAMAKI】: The taxi came but Sou-chan disappeared
【TSUMUGI】: Eeh———!?
【TSUMUGI】: I'll try calling Sogo-san!
【TAMAKI】: Even if you call him I'll pick up. I'm holding all of Sou-chan's luggage.
【TAMAKI】: He's not here——————————
【TAMAKI】: Not good as soon as I started asking if anybody'd seen MEZZO"'s Sogo Osaka people've started gathering around
【TSUMUGI】: Have you found him...!?
【TAMAKI】: He isn't here
【TAMAKI】: What should I do. If this keeps up what if I never see him again
【TSUMUGI】: Please search for him in the surrounding area!
【TAMAKI】: I looked for him but he's not here but what do I do seriously...
【TSUMUGI】: What sort of condition was Sogo-san in?
【TAMAKI】: I couldn't get through to talk to him. He kept giggling and smiling, and he was all wobbly.
After I turned around he was gone.
【TAMAKI】: He's not here——————————

1. screenshots for this chat were once again provided by kleinさん @ twitter!! thank you so much!! いつもありがとう。。
in addition, the HD rip for the kinako phone sticker (that I have never seen in a single other chat (怒)(怒)(怒)) was provided by fuyumijun @ twitter!!! thank you for being so kind and working with me m(_ _)m !!!!
fyi, the sticker says "phone call finished", basically!
2. I took a break from translating sougo's to jump over to tamaki's unit chats because this chat takes place directly after sougo's 4th chapter, and then chronologically it goes tamaki's 5th chapter -> sougo's 5th chapter, so I thought I'd translate them in that order to make things more sensible!
3. Tamaki Yotsuba Sucks At Explaining 2k15
4. uuuuh tamaki throws around a lot of onomatopoeia when he talks and it's an eternal struggle to translate, but at the very least I think when tamaki says 'diagonally' (斜め continues to haunt me), he means it's coming from the side; hence why tsumugi guesses that sougo's being made to drink
gosh sougo when I thought I could translate 接待 as wining and dining I didn't mean Literal Wining
anyways, the reason sougo is being made to drink and not turning down the offer (as far as I can tell) ties in with what he was saying in his 4th chapter about wanting to do what he could to help tamaki; in this case, getting along well with the producer who's gotten to be really fond of tamaki (to the point where he wants to get a 17 y/o drunk wtf) is the best he can do to like Get Endorsements and stuff, hence why he's agreeing to drink despite 1. having just recovered from a stomach flare 2. dude doesn't know his limits when he gets hammered
I have a Lot To Say about drunk sougo but now is not the time or place tbh
5. tsumugi's instructions for tamaki are kind of tough to translate because she tells him to get the store attendant to call a taxi, and then tells him to say that they've received urgent news, and then asks if he'll be able to get sougo out of the restaurant like that, but it's a bit difficult to tie those two differing directives into one cohesive sentence in english.....
so, even tho it was one sentence in japanese, I split it into two and made the wording a bit longer
6. tsumugi ends the phone call with an "otsukaresama" but just to spice things up I translated it as "thank you for taking the call" instead of "thank you for all of your hard work"
7. mezzo" is such a mess....o
8. tamaki is so innocent asking passerby if they've seen mezzo"'s ousaka sougo but I am here gazing at my hands and crying because the poor kid is so stressed and who can Blame him
petition to put sougo in a child harness whenever he gets drunk
9. crying because tamaki uses a phrase meaning "for the rest of my life" when he says "never" but it's rough to translate that into english while retaining the shortness of tamaki's speech bc I'm pretty sure tamaki's cutting himself off (as a segue into his fifth chapter I think)
as another note at the end of the chat tamaki starts saying "いない" and "どうしよう" instead of "いねー" and "どうしよ" (so basically he's switching to 'proper inflection'), so I tried to convey that similarly by switching from "he's not here" to "he isn't here" and from "what do I do" to "what should I do"
